Dark Ages reloaded – What governments and religions have in common

This year is 2015. There were times when herbalists, accused of witchcraft, were burnt at the stake, and those who didn’t behave normally had to undergo torture-like exorcism by the church. That was a time of fear and repression and we refer to it as the Dark Ages, which, according to Wikipedia, was “a period of intellectual darkness and economic regression”.
It was a long time ago and everything has changed, right? That’s what I thought when I went to school, but I grew up, and what I see today is nothing different from the Dark Ages. We are still in the ‘period of intellectual darkness’, we are still blinded by political and religious dogmas, brainwashed by the main stream media and manipulated by the industry giants.
What progress can humanity register since back then? People are still being burnt and beheaded, misbehaving children are treated with dangerous toxins by big pharma, and critics of the system are being locked up (or declared mentally ill and ‘treated properly’). Not to mention the total and pervasive surveillance of all citizens, and the countless wars, provoked by those who make profit and gain power from them.
In our modern Dark Ages (“Dark Ages reloaded”), religions and governments act hand in hand, like in old times when the Catholic church accepted payments from the Nazi regime (our modern church tax) for not interfering in politics. Churches, like governments, are interested in power, and they work in similar ways. You pay them taxes for the illusion that they care about you. In exchange, they brainwash you with their dogmas. Two of the most popular dogmas are the pretended democracy and the interpretation of a ‘holy book’ of your choice.
In our education system, governments teach children how to obey, and they are taught that disobedience will be punished. Religions do the same: If you disobey and misbehave, you will incur the wrath of God, and he will send you to hell where you will burn for eternity! The churches, as well as governments, have their preachers. The preachers of the government are the mass media, and they make sure that you stay brainwashed. The governments establish a surveillance state and spy on you using technology, in the church you go to confession and tell them voluntarily about your private life.
Do you see the similarities?
Not only do religions and governments want power, but they also strive for profit. Did you know that the Catholic church owned condom factories in the 80’s, whereas at the same time they preached how bad contraception is? Of course it’s bad since they need more sheep descendants who will obey them and pay more taxes. Islam teach their sheep to produce as many children as possible as well. Having children is a woman’s obligation in Islam. Additionally, women have been disenfranchised of their human rights while Muslim males strut like peacocks and treat women like chattel. This way, only the males of a population need to be controlled, and they control their females. A very smart concept.
The churches also own huge amounts of estate and endless other treasures. Governments, on the other hand, go to war if they need new resources. War is always a welcome opportunity for more profit and more power. Have you ever heard any religious hypocrite protesting against a war? Of course not, as they enjoy too many privileges given by the government. They are still being paid for not interfering in politics. It’s a profitable business.
What I am saying is that there are particular forces permanently trying to control and manipulate us for their own purpose. It’s not enough to free our minds from one dogma. We have to free ourselves from all dogmas and think for ourselves. Don’t be afraid to question what you have been taught or what you fear. Only because something has been like that for many years, doesn’t mean that it is true or right. We have a reasoning mind and can draw decent conclusions on our own.
If you need a concept of deities in your life, search for them on your own, in your heart, and not in outdated old books that have ‘holy’ names on them. Do you really want a god in your life who permanently watches and judges you and whom you fear? If you need a leader, look for someone who really deserves your respect, based on their acts and not on tradition. And most of all, be yourself and not what you have been indoctrinated to be. It’s time to end the era of Dark Ages, and I believe we can do this!
