Dirty bomb material obtained — device “has entered Europe”, U.S. targets not out of the question
By Shepard Ambellas
An alleged freelance ISIS bomb maker named Muslim-Al-Britani, @TNTmuslim on Twitter, claims that a “radioactive device has entered somewhere in Europe” as the stage has now been set for a dirty bomb attack.
Shortly after the threat was posted on Dec. 6, Twitter suspended the @TNTmuslim account, giving only the message, “The profile you are trying to view has been suspended. To return to your home timeline, click here.”
This all followed another controversial tweet by Al-Britani, on Nov. 27, which claimed that indeed the Islamic State does possess a “dirty bomb” made with “radioactive material” stolen from “Mosul University”. Reports do confirm as much as 88 lbs of radioactive material, “uranium compounds”, may have been taken, although it’s unknown how much, if any of the 88 lbs are enriched, weapons grade.
In fact Iraqi U.N. Ambassador Mohamed Ali Alhakim told the U.N.’s Secretary General in a letter dated July 8, that “Terrorist groups have seized control of nuclear material at the sites that came out of the control of the state” also noting that such material “can be used in manufacturing weapons of mass destruction.”, as reported by Reuters.
Additionally, Al-Britani, the ISIS bomb maker, has also openly posted weapons instruction manuals on Twitter, prompting internal response from authorities in both the E.U. and U.S..
Moreover all of this may dovetail with a laptop found by Abu Ali’s Syrian rebel group earlier this year containing detailed ISIS files. The “Dell” laptop contained “a treasure trove of documents that provide ideological justifications for jihadi organizations — and practical training on how to carry out the Islamic State’s deadly campaigns. They include videos of Osama bin Laden, manuals on how to make bombs, instructions for stealing cars, and lessons on how to use disguises in order to avoid getting arrested while traveling from one jihadi hot spot to another.”, reported Foreign Policy. The laptop also contained detailed information on how to make “biological weapons” and how “weapons of mass destruction” are “permissible” for “Muslims” to use.
Now, even the U.S. is preparing for potential terror, security, threats as the Senate Intelligence Committee prepares to release their executive summary of a 6000-plus page report on the C.I.A.’s use of torture techniques, which some say may lead to violence against American targets throughout the world.
“U.S. officials who have read the report say it includes disturbing new details about the CIA’s use of such techniques as sleep deprivation, confinement in small spaces, humiliation and the simulated drowning process known as waterboarding. It alleges that the harsh interrogations failed to produce unique and life-saving intelligence — a conclusion disputed by current and former intelligence officials, including CIA Director John Brennan.”, reports the AP.
